Brendon Holder passed away at his home in Pembroke, West Wales, on Saturday morning. The 24-year-old played for Carmarthen Stars and was known to be a very talented player.
The death is being deemed a suicide owing to a message Holder posted on his Facebook profile earlier on Saturday. The emotional message said, “Sorry for anyone I hurt. Please don’t think I’m selfish. I wasn’t the best of sons and friend. I am sorry see you all soon… Can’t wait to see you Mum. Sorry for who I hurt. Bye guys.”
Minutes after his post, he also uploaded a new profile picture, where he is seen as an infant in his mother’s arms.
His body was found a few hours later on Saturday morning. The police handed him over to his brother Jamie Holder, the next of kin.
His brother paid tribute to the deceased. He said, “[Brendon was] a dedicated and loving brother who was brave and adventurous.” He also added that, “Brendon touched the lives of many and he will be dearly missed by everyone.”
Brendon Holder played football for Carmarthen Stars. The club canceled two games scheduled for the weekend after hearing of his death. They also posted a picture in the memory of Brandon and wrote:
“Devastated to lose such a really nice guy and a talented player who scored a number of goals for the club and helped the seconds with promotion!! Both firsts and seconds games were called off today !! Thoughts are with all those who are close to him !! You will be missed by all at the club Brendon Holder, RIP!!”
As soon as the news went viral, a lot of people poured their condolences and sympathies on social media, recalling the beautiful person that Brendon was.
