Hacker who leaked photos of Jennifer Lawrence and others in 2014 has been sentenced to eight months in prison

The hacker who leaked undermining pictures of Jennifer Lawrence at 2014 has been sentenced to 8 weeks of prison and three decades of surveillance.

In 2014, George Garofano, and three additional hackers, illegally murdered the Apple iCloud accounts of Lawrence and 240 other people, such as Kate Upton and Kirsten Dunst. The 26-year-old along with his partners then place the now-infamous pictures of the actors together with their private info online.

Lawrence said in the time that the entire experience was”so incredibly violating you can not put it into words.”

On Wednesday, a federal judge in a US district court in Bridgeport, Connecticut billed the band who pled guilty to the crime back in April, The Guardian reported. They confessed to posing as Apple’s security employees to get usernames and passwords of those that they hit to flow private photographs and data.

The prosecution contended on a sentence of 10 to 16 weeks, which will be in accord with national rules. Garofano asked for leniency, asking five weeks of prison and five months of home confinement.

His prosecution announcement :

“Mr Garofano’s crime was a severe one. He hacked band, his victims’ online accounts, invaded their privacy and stole their private info, such as intimate and private photographs. He didn’t participate in this behavior on just 1 event. He participated in this behavior 240 times within the duration of 18 weeks. Not only did Mr Garofano keep for himself the photos that he uttered, he disseminated them to additional people. He might also have sold them to other people to make’extra income’.” The announcement also read,”In committing this crime, Mr. Garofano acted in utter and complete disregard for the effect on his victims’ lives. ”

Garofano’s defense lawyer, Richard Lynch, wrote,”He stands before the court matured, accepting responsibility for his actions and with been in trouble with the law because. There’s not anything to imply he would engage in any other unlawful behavior in the long run. ”

Garofano’s other 3 partners are sentences to prison terms between eight and eight months.
