Kylie Jenner makes an appearance as the Virgin Mary in the video for Stop Trying to Be God from Travis Scott’s new album Astroworld.
Stop Trying to Be God dropped on Monday as a part of Scott’s new album. The video for the song is full of biblical references and features Kylie as a modern day Virgin Mary. The 20 year old is a luminescent gold healing figure that cradles Scott in one scene, and a Virgin Mary-esque character with a sequined gold gown who tends to a lamb in another.
Kylie is prominent throughout Astroworld, as Travis sings all about his girlfriend and daughter’s mother in his third album. In Stargazing, Travis says, “I was always high up on the lean / Then this girl came here to save my life / Look up to the sky, down on my knees / Out of nowhere, you came here to stay the night.”
He also referenced the start of his romance with Jenner at Coachella in several songs. In Sicko Mode, he said, “‘Bout to turn this function to Bonnaroo / Told her “hop in, you comin’ too.” In Skeletons, he said, “We just rocked Coachella, I gave her half the check.”
In Coffee Bean, he also referenced Jenner’s family, saying, “Your family told you I’m a bad move / Plus I’m already a black dude.”
Travis and Kylie celebrated the launch of Astroworld together in Lollapolooza Music Festival. Kylie posted about the album on Instagram in a post dedicated to Scott. She wrote, “You didn’t have to go this hard baby. Astroworld just dropped and it’s the craziest ride of my life.”
Even Stormi is now modelling and posing for her dad’s new album. Scott posted a picture of Stormi wearing an Astroworld bikini, writing, “Come home my baby ready to rock and roll. !!!! (sic)”
